Creative Placemaking Scholarship

Valley National Bank is partnering with The Center for Creative Placemaking, NJIT and HCDNNJ to offer a scholarship for the Professional Certificate in Creative Placemaking offered through the Continuing Professional Education Division of NJIT. Classes will be held on the conveniently located NJIT campus in downtown Newark
➢ Classes will be held from September 9th through December 20th Mondays and Thursdays 6-9pm.
➢ Classes take place over 10 weeks with an additional 30 hours of field practicum for this Certificate program.

Who will benefit from this course?
➢ Civic leaders, planners, community and economic development professionals and artists can acquire the skills and practices to shape the character of a community through the infusion of arts and culture.
➢ The Certified Creative Placemaker Certificate is designed for those who choose to be a leading agent of change in a community.

ELIGIBILITY:
➢ Must be a member of a non-profit organization leading or working in conjunction with an official plan e.g. a Neighborhood Revitalization Plan, a Redevelopment/Economic Development Plan that’s serving Communities in the following New Jersey counties: Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passaic, Middlesex, Monmouth, Somerset, Sussex, Union, Warren, as cited in the Plan.
➢ Preference will be given to members of the Network
➢ The Ideal candidate is a resident or staff person with leadership responsibility who works in an outreach capacity for the lead nonprofit or for one of its partner organizations, as cited in the official plan.

APPLICATION AND NOTIFICATION:
➢ Complete and submit this one-page application along with the official plan to: [email protected] no later than noon on Friday August 30th
➢ Selections will be made the following week by a Selection Committee with representatives from the Center for Creative Placemaking, HCDNNJ and Valley National Bank.

➢ The course begins on September 9th and runs through Dec. 10th. There is a 1-week break in classes from 10/11/19 - 10/20/19.
➢ Requirements for the Certificate in Creative Placemaking are satisfactory completion of the 60 hours of class plus a 30-hour practicum/project and submission/defense of report on same. (Note: Identify this practicum/project in #2 on the application).
➢ This scholarship provides full tuition which covers all expense related to the course including materials and parking on campus.
➢ Upon notification of this scholarship award, the participant will need to register immediately through the NJIT/CPE course portal.
➢ Upon successful completion of this course the participant will receive a CERTIFICATE in CREATIVE PLACEMAKING from NJIT.
