Across the country, millions of low-wage workers are losing jobs and wages from COVID-19 related shutdowns and most struggled to pay the rent even before the pandemic. Approximately 40% of all New Jersey renter households (450,000) will not be able to pay their rent in August.15,000 evictions have already been filed despite a moratorium in place in the state. Without immediate action, millions of renters and homeowners will lose their homes and be at imminent risk of homelessness. Their homes – and their family’s ability to stay safe and healthy – are at risk. 

On August 25, 2020 the Network hosted the first ever Virtual Congressional Day. Members of New Jersey's Congressional Delegation shared what actions they are taking to protect homeowners and renters during and after the coronavirus pandemic, ensuring housing stability. Watch below:
