Sandy Survivors Want Results, says Network
Sweeney Bill of Rights tour visits Moonachie

2/22/2014

Senate President Steve Sweeney (D-3) visited the final stop on his "Sandy Bill of Rights" tour today in Moonachie. After the event, Housing and Community Development Network of New Jersey President and CEO Staci Berger issued the following statement:

"We've heard similar stories in each of the communities we've visited on Senator Sweeney's Sandy 'Bill of Rights' tour. People are frustrated and disappointed. They want accountability, they want results, and they want to go home.

"Here in Moonachie, for instance, the frustrations of manufactured homeowners has been very troubling because they've been completely left out of the process. We've heard numerous examples of the arbitrary implementation of the State's recovery programs. People applying to the programs have received the wrong or incomplete information and unfairly denied. The next tranche of federal funding needs to be spent more effectively and efficiently so people can finally rebuild and get back to their lives."

The Housing and Community Development Network supports New Jersey’s community development sector, collaborating with more than 250 members including community development corporations and other organizations to create affordable homes, expand economic opportunities, and build strong communities.
