Advocates to Launch Effort to Prevent Childhood Lead Poisoning
Data to reveal current patterns of lead hazard in NJ
                                              
WHAT:     Community leaders, children, and housing advocates will launch a campaign to ensure $10 million in full funding to prevent childhood lead poisoning in the next state budget. Also, new data will be unveiled on the current state of lead poisoning in NJ and the impact on young children. Information will be shared about the jurisdictions in NJ with higher incidences of children affected by lead, in comparison to other parts of the country.

WHO:    Staci Berger, president and chief executive officer of the Network; Ann Vardeman, Associate Director of Organizing and Advocacy of New Jersey Citizen Action; and Elyse Pivnick, director of environmental health for Isles, Inc. will be joined by parents and young children to launch the lead prevention effort. Invited guests include Senator Shirley Turner (D-Mercer/Hunterdon) and Senator Ronald L. Rice (D-Essex).
